The Used

The Used es un banda de Orem, Utah, Estados Unidos. Sus integrantes son Bert McCracken (voz), Jeph Howard (bajo), Quinn Allman (guitarra) y Dan Whitesides (batería).
El género de la banda es frecuentemente debatido. La banda se rehúsa a hablar de esto, y su cantante, Bert McCracken dijo a la revista musical Kerrang! que el género no le importa mientras se siga haciendo buena música. Este grupo tiene fama de ser dirigido para un grupo social llamado "Emo", aunque Bert McCracken no ha dado declaraciones se conoce que este siente desprecio por este nuevo grupo social.

La formación de The Used data desde 1994, cuando se llamaba 'Strange Itch'. La banda estaba conformada por Jeph Howard, Branden Steineckert, Joel Pack y Matt Brown. Editaron un álbum en 1998, pero se desintegraron. En octubre de 1999, Quinn Allman de 17 años, se unió a Howard y Steineckert y junto con el bajista Ashton Johnson formaron "Dumb Luck". En ese momento, Jeph cantaba y tocaba guitarra. En el año 2001, realizaron un álbum llamado "The naked truth" y no mucho tiempo despues, la alineación cambió de nuevo, cuando Jeph se convirtió en bajista y Bert McCracken lo remplazó como vocalista. La banda se transformó en "Used." En el 2001 grabaron un demo producido por John Feldman de la banda Goldfinger, después firmaron con Reprise Records y tuvieron que cambiar su nombre a "The Used", ya que una banda de Boston tenia por nombre "Used" y en el 2002 lanzaron su primer álbum titulado The Used.
