Underoath

Underoath (escrito también como Underøath) es una banda cristiana de Metalcore formada en Tampa, Florida. Actualmente su discográfica es Tooth & Nail Records/Solid State Records. Su estilo musical ha cambiado constantemente desde su formación, combinando elementos del Metal, Melodic Death Metal,Deathcore.
Underoath se formó en 1998 en Florida, con solo tres integrantes: Dallas Taylor como vocalista, el guitarrista Lucas Morton, y el baterista Scott Nunn. Un tiempo después el bajista Octavio Fernández y el guitarrista Corey Steger fueron agregados a la banda . Aaron Gillespie también substituyó a Scott Nunn en la batería. El talento de la banda llamo la atención Takehold Records, y rápidamente firmaron contrato. Era entonces que Lucas Morton decidido dejar la banda. En 1999, la banda lanzó su primer disco titulado Act of Depression. El álbum contaba con seis canciones . Sus primeros dos discos, Act of Depression (1999) y Cries of the Past (2000), Mostraban el sonido original de la banda. En estos primeros álbumes, el sonido de underØATH era muy diferente a su sonido cuando alcanzó un amplio renombre algunos años más adelante, esto se debe a que solamente queda un miembro original de la banda (Aaron Gillespie). Después del lanzamiento de su primer disco, el baterista Scott Nunn deja la banda. En ese momento los miembros de la banda estaban todavía en la escuela secundaria y el estilo de la banda se inclinó hacia el Grindcore y al Melodic Death Metal, en sus canciones que duran aproximadamente 8 minutos. Sus dos primeros álbumes están actualmente fuera de venta. En el año 2000, un Tecladista llamado Christopher Dudley fue agregado a la banda y Octavio Fernández toco la guitarra para que Matthew Clark pueda tocar el Bajo. la banda comenzó la grabación de su próximo álbum. Cries of the Past fue titulado el disco, fue producido por James Paul Wisner. A pesar de tener solamente cinco canciones, el disco dura cerca de 40 minutos. En esos momentos eran una de las bandas underground más famosas. Después vendrían los grandes cambios, el guitarrista Corey Steger fue substituido por Timothy McTague; el bajista Matthew Clark también fue substituido por Billy Nottke. Más cambios seguirían en underØATH en el 2001. La banda firmo con los sellos Solid State Records / Tooth & Nail Records. El 26 de febrero de 2002 fue lanzado el álbum The Changing of Times. La salida y la adición de diversos miembros de la banda, hizo cambiar totalmente el sonido de la banda. Su tercer disco vendió más copias que sus dos anteriores disco juntos. Después de meses viajando, comenzaron las discusiones en el interior de la banda. Así vendría polemica salida del líder de la banda Dallas Taylor por problemas con la banda, tambien fueron expulsados de la banda el bajista Billy Nottke y el guitarrista Octavio Fernández; durante el Warped Tour 2003. En ese periodo llegarian el guitarrista el guitarrista James Smithy el Bajista Grant Brandell, Así y todo parecía que underØATH se acabaría por no tener vocalista aun, pero el 23 de octubre de 2003, la banda presento a su nuevo vocalista llamado Spencer Chamberlain, ex vocalista de This Runs Through, junto con su hermano Phil Chamberlain que ahora toca batería en Sullivan.
